Effective Tips To Help You Put Your Phone Down At Night

It is undeniable how much technology, depending on our different interests and hobbies, gets in our way on a daily basis. Cellphones, computers, video games, television, etc. are some of the most distracting devices that keep many of us ‘busy’, especially at night.

A good night’s sleep is said to be one of the most important things we need to recharge and get ready for the next day, and yet, we’d rather stay up late and do the very things we can pick up the next day.

As someone who has for a while struggled to put my phone down at night, here are three practical and effective things that have helped me to slow down at night and put my phone down:

Time Your Sleep
You know how much sleep you need to best function in the day. Test the different hours that you go to sleep and be honest with yourself about what works best for you. Many articles and research say that one needs eight hours of sleep. It won’t hurt to give research a chance. The truth is, whether we like it or not, sleep is important.

Be Serious About ‘Me’ Time
Be serious about ‘me’ time after your day is done. Turn on that Do Not Disturb (DND) function every day. I have a DND activated for every single day from 7pm ending at 6am the next day. During this time, I try to focus on me and my interests. It helps me to focus on other things. If I have to write a blog posts from my cell, I control the edge to open another application to avoid doom scrolling.

Everything Online Can Wait
Social media is filled with reels and shorts that don’t necessarily portray reality. I’m not saying everything online isn’t real, but who knows which one is, really? We can draw inspiration and learn a thing or two from social media, but it cannot be the thing we rely on to lead our lives.

Now, listen, I’m not saying I’m not on my cell at night. I just have more control over how much time I spend on it.

What helps you to put your cellphone down at night? Did you find any of these tips helpful? Let me know what you think in the comments.
